Common Mistakes When Quantifying DevOps Achievements

The most frequent mistake is inventing precision that is not real. Numbers like “47.3 percent improvement” feel false because they are. Round numbers (40 percent, 30 percent, 5x) read as honest measurements. Decimal precision should appear only when it is genuinely defensible — a Datadog dashboard, an SLO report, an actual finance ticket.
